sadness. it fills the room. sit back, get a box of tissues and relax. this is sad story night. 2 heart-wrenching stories, 1 is fiction and 1 is real.
story 1 (fiction) - I will treat u the same way u treat ur parents
there was this couple and their young 6 yr old son. one day, the husband's old and frail dad moved in with them. when it was dinner time they sat down and started eating. they soon noticed some problems. the old man's hands trembled when he ate, thus causing him to drop food or even break a bowl. he constantly spilled his drink and made weird noises. the couple found this very irritating and decided to do something about it. the next night, when dinner time came, they put a wooden table, bowl, spoon, fork and cup in a corner. they filled the bowl with food- being very stingy with the meat then lead him to the table. once he sat down, they started dinner. the couple happily ate their dinner, ignoring him completely. the young boy would occasionally look at his grandpa's direction, each time h looked, there would be a tear trickling down his grandpa's cheek. after dinner, the couple went about doing their own things.just before bedtime, they saw their little boy playing with some wooden scraps. so they asked ," what are you doing?" the boy replied innocently," oh, i am making a wooden bowl for and mummy so you can eat your dinner when you grow old." his parents faces turned pale, their eyes were brimming with tears. so, ever since, the old man sat with them for dinner. his awkward sounds or breaking of plates never did seem to bother them anymore.
story 2 (real) - father of a 9 yr old gal passed away
this is a true story, it was told to me by my mum. she volunteers for recess prayer, so she prays for kids. today, a p3 girl gal came to her and confided that her dad just passed away. it was a car accident. she has 3 younger siblings, mum works and there is no other adult (no maid, no grandparents) at home. thus she has to take care of herself after school and sometimes have to fetch her younger siblings back home from the childcare!??! and she has to take care of them in her mum's absence. my mum thinks its too much responsibilty for a 9 yr old gal...she said the gal looks kinda lost and sad. mum was fighting back tears while praying 4 her.....
i am not really sure why i am telling u guys such sad stories, anyway the moral of the stories, i guess are:-
1)treat ur parents the way u want ur kids to treat u
2)be thankful for ur family
ermm...happy stories next time ok?
